We are so proud of our salon and decided it was time for everybody else to be proud of our salon too.
The Newark Advertiser hold an annual Business Awards Ceremony with a variety of different categories, this year we entered two categories
Business of the Year (small/medium enterprise)Employee Of The Year (Vicky our Senior Therapist)
After sending our entries it was a nervous time waiting to hear if we had made it through to the final, we sat on the day of the announcement of the finalists and then an email pinged…then another email pinged and GUESS WHAT we had made the final on BOTH categories. How proud we were to have made the FINAL…it was our first time we had entered and now we were down to the FINAL THREE!
So next part of the process was meeting the Judges and it was a nerve wrecking time but we did it and we now had to wait for the big night to find out the result. We had never entered an award before we didn’t know what to expect.
The evening started, and it seemed to go on forever before it got to the part of the awards and we sat waiting for our categories to be called out, luckily Vicky’s category was one of the first…they read out the finalists played a video clip and with a drum roll moment, the winner was announced……..This year’s Employee of the Year is….. Vicky Duncombe of Catherine Carter Hair and Beauty!! She did it, she won!!
So very proud that one of the girls who started at the salon 5 years ago as a fledging Therapist on a small contract had now worked her way up to Senior Therapist and EMPLOYEE of the YEAR…An amazing achievement…Well done Vicky.
Our next category was the Business of the Year (small/medium enterprise). Another nail biting moment for us again we sat and waited this year we were unlucky and didn’t win it…some will be disappointed as we were, but we entered and got straight to the final and were in the final three amongst some of the most prestigious businesses in Newark, that was an achievement in itself…Our biggest moment was Celebrating Vicky’s Achievement and the girl did good and brought us an award home to the salon!
